Initial care
The puppy goes to his new family, who picked him up, so that he begins to feel protected and integrated right from the first contact. In this way, traumas and disorders that will later limit him to various levels are avoided.
Sometimes the trip is long and they may feel nauseous and be a little apathetic, sometimes they even vomit and have diarrhea but it is normal due to the stress caused by the change of environment.
The arrival of this new member of the family is a moment of great joy and full of pampering, but there are certain precautions that are extremely important and must be applied and implemented in this new adventure.
1 - The puppy only has one vaccine and 1 deworming, it is not yet fully protected, so it is important to avoid contact with other animals and even people outside its family environment. Also prevent him from walking on the street where other animals walk. All this to avoid dangerous contagions.
2 - Follow and respect the vaccination and deworming schedule to avoid problems that can be fatal. Usually 2nd dose at 10 weeks and 3rd dose at 14 weeks. At 4 months of age the rabies vaccine is given (mandatory) which will be repeated every 3 years.
3 - Do not give baths before 4 months, clean with spray and wipes suitable for the puppy's hygiene. This prevents colds and colds.
4 - Do not change the food before 4 months.
This is the feed you should buy
If, for some reason, it is necessary to change, follow the transition procedure to avoid digestive problems.
The transition process usually is, every 2 days, to change 25% of the old food for the new one and check the dog's reaction. If diarrhea is present, return to the previous measurement until it stabilizes.
In addition to the food, fresh water should always be available to the puppy. You can also offer to the puppy:
A fillet of boiled fish,
boiled chicken breast,
some cooked minced meat
plain yogurt with honey.
Never give milk or raw meat.
5 - Beware of all kinds of small objects that they can swallow. Everything is new and they like to bite and play with everything. Toys should be of good quality to prevent them from falling apart into small pieces, which they can swallow, and cause clogging of the airways or digesti ve system.
6 - They are usually always very active, but if you notice apathy, lack of appetite and very watery diarrhea, it is a sign that something is wrong and you should contact us and the vet quickly.
There are many other precautions that we must take with our ducklings, and many different situations can happen. Each puppy has its own personality and needs.
That is why we are always in contact with the families to help as much as possible in the happiness and well-being of these wonderful Beings.
